Weekend travel fun!!

Dear Followers,

Since, summer is around the corner, and it calls for a break from normal routine. A weekend gateway with your family is all you need, before the sun shines brighter.

Last weekend, was the anniversary of my best couple friend and so we all had decided to take a road trip and spent a night at a resort nearby.

We were three couples traveling together along with 3 kids. So, we were looking for a resort where we could relax and rejuvenate and spend some time together, as we don't meet as often as we used to, after the kids were born.

So, we were all on board, 3 intelligent and extremely fun wives, one hyper active boy, two beautiful daughters age 8 months and 5 months and 3 average husbands. 😜. We took two cars, giving the anniversary couple some private time before they realize how difficult it is going to get.

THE JOURNEY

The road from nagpur to Pench has improved drastically over the last 5 years. So the travel time without any breaks would be around 2 hours 15 minutes, which is pretty reasonable for a weekend gateway.

We had baby food, good music, some toys in car and trust me, it was really fun. My daughter who is more like me, practically ate and slept for most part of the journey.

Also we had carried oranges, roasted makhanas and other seasonal  fruits as the car snack, which  a shift from the chips and chocolates that we used to eat earlier. Healthy choices are in trend  you see!!

THE RESORT - VANRAJ RESORTS AND SPA

This was the first time, I was staying at Vanraj. We did the booking online and since it was pretty last minute , we got to stay in traditional cottage rooms. The welcome drink was a refreshing glass of nimboo pani (Lemon juice).

Room and bathroom
The space was luxurious and also had an outdoor shower area, a sofa seating, comfortable bed and a very clean bathroom. The bath products were from KAMA Ayurveda , and that had actually made my day. I am really fond of good moisturizer, shower gel and a conditioner.  And Kama is one of my go to brands.

My daughter had fun time playing on the carpet which was apparantly clean and was smelling fresh too. Seriously if you are a mom you would understand that, and I pro at smelling stuff anyway.

Swimming Pool:
We played ball in the pool like a bunch of teenagers, the water was cold, but once you are in there, it hardly matters. We decided to take the dive at around 4.30 in the evening. The pool was well maintained and big enough for some fun laps and play time. It was too cold for the kids, so we didn't actually let them in.

Restaurant:

The food quality is good, lets say , none of us ended up with a bad stomach or a flu. The taste and ambience is pretty cozy and there is also an outdoor seating area, if you can catch the spot early morning, the breakfast with a view, will be a lovely idea.

Also there was a wooden comfortable high chair available, my daughter had a nice time having her meals at the table with all of us. (More like it was easy for me to feed her, knowing she was all tied and couldn't escape)

What we ate?

Breakfast:  fresh sweet lime juice, eggs, fruits(water melon, musk melon and pappaya), cereals, poori bhaji and upma, hot tea and coffee.

Lunch: salad, three variety of veggies(one paneer butter masala ofcourse), roti , paratha, naan, rice, tadka daal , chicken curry, ice cream and butter milk.

High Tea: Tea, coffee, Sandwiches, cup cakes(you can actually give this one a miss) and maggi

Dinner:  Salads, papad, bhindi and paneer, chicken curry, assorted breads (Roti , Naan , paratha) Gulab Jamun.

SPA Experience

Compared to the other resorts in Pench, the Spa is very reasonable, and if like me you are fond of massages then I would recommend a deep tissue massage. My husband loved it and it did release the tension of his shoulders and neck.

My friend took a swedish massage and her experience was not that great, as the steam in her room was not functioning, and also the towels that they had over after the shower are not of great quality.

Let's say, for the price it pretty much does a good job.

How did we spend our time?

Well, upon arrival, we took a nice walk to the cottage on the well paved path, then we had our lunch.

Post lunch we had some pool time and then high tea. We played table tennis and carrom game. I was a very gracious loser of a lost table tennis match.

After spending some time in the room we did head out for dinner and they were kind enough to arrange a bonfire after dinner near our cottage , were we could unwind, have funny intoxicated conversations and some fun memories.

Next day, was all about cycling, good breakfast, SPA , tuk tuk rides (silly really!) and I also I did spend some time in their library room which was right next to the reception, reading about my next trip, mostly to Sri Lanka.!!
